The effects of C60 on mercury bioavailability and sorption were investigated at different C60 dosages, reaction times, and pH ranges[…]. The results demonstrated that the bioavailability of mercury (Hg(2+)) decreased with increasing C60 dosage. Approximately 30% of aqueous mercury became biologically unavailable 2h after interaction with C60 at a mass ratio of C60 to mercury as low as 0.01. However, this reduction in bioavailability plateaued at a mass ratio of C60 to mercury of 10 with a further increase in C60 concentrations resulting in only a 20% additional decrease in bioavailability. If this reduction in bioluminescence output is attributable to mercury sorption on C60, then each one log-order increase in C60 concentration resulted in a 0.86 log-order decrease in the mercury partitioning coefficient (Kd). This relationship implies the presence of high mercury-affinitive sites on C60. [..] These results suggest that C60 may be useful in capturing soluble mercury and thus reducing mercury biotoxicity.

Based on the bioavailability proﬁles of the E. coli ARL1 bioluminescent bioreporter, it was demonstrated that C60 is efﬁcient in reducing the bioavailability of Hg2+ through association primarily mediated by sorption. The sorption efﬁciency varies with C60 dosage, reaction time, and pH. Speciﬁc ﬁndings of this study are:
Increases in C60 dosage reduce mercury bioavailability. Thirty percent of Hg2+ became unavailable to the ARL1 bioreporter bacteria when the mass ratio of C60 to Hg2+ was 0.01.
The length of reaction time plays a more important role than C60 dosage in reducing Hg2+ bioavailability, suggesting slow kinetics of the C60–Hg interactions.
Lowering the solution pH from 7.2 to 5.8 decreases mercury bioavailability, and this effect is more signiﬁcant at lower C60
• Fullerene C60 induces both genotoxicity and anti-genotoxicity in cadmium chloride exposed rats.
• Strong anti-genotoxicity of virgin olive oil is reported.
• Establishment of optimal settings for fullerene nanoparticles C60 and virgin olive oil biomedical applications is required.
In conclusion, molecular and cytogenetic studies showed that C60 and VOO exhibit anti-genotoxic agents against CdCl2-induced genotoxicity in rats. Further studies are needed to investigate the optimal conditions for potential biomedical applications of these anti-genotoxic agents.

Cadmium is a toxic metal that occurs naturally in the environment. Humans are exposed to cadmium mostly through plant-derived food. There is no safe margin of cadmium exposure and the need to lower human exposure is desperate. Cadmium produces a number of health problems and is a known carcinogen. In industry, it’s regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and it has a very low permissible exposure level.
Effects of Cadmium Exposure
Cadmium is of no use to the human body and is toxic even at low levels. The negative effects of cadmium on the body are numerous and can impact nearly all systems in the body, including cardiovascular, reproductive, the kidneys, eyes, and even the brain.
Exposure to cadmium can affect renal and dopaminergic systems in children. 
According to the US Environmental Protection Agency and the International Agency for Research on Cancer, cadmium induces multiple organ damage and one aspect of that is as a carcinogen.  Research by the National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services confirms cadmium is linked to human pancreatic cancer. 
Cadmium is a relatively rare soft metal that occurs in the natural environment typically in association with zinc ores and, to a lesser extent, with lead and copper ores. Some inorganic cadmium compounds are soluble in water, while cadmium oxide and cadmium sulfide are almost insoluble. In the air, cadmium vapor is rapidly oxidized. Wet and dry deposition transfers cadmium from the ambient air to soil, where it is
absorbed by plants and enters the food chain. […]
Sources and Uses
Cadmium is emitted into the atmosphere from natural sources, mainly volcanic activities, and Cadmium from anthropogenic sources. Metal production (drying of zinc concentrates and roasting, smelting, and refining of ores) is the largest source of anthropogenic atmospheric cadmium emissions, followed by waste incineration and by other sources, including the production of nickel-cadmium batteries, fossil fuel combustion, and generation of dust by industrial processes such as cement manufacturing (Kazantzis 1987) […]
Health Impacts of Exposure
Ingestion via food, especially plant-based foodstuffs, is the major route by which cadmium enters the human body from the environment. Average human daily intake of cadmium from food has been estimated at around 10–50 μg. This may increase to several hundred micrograms per day in polluted areas. The intake of cadmium through inhalation is generally less than half that via ingestion, while daily intake from drinking water ranges from below 1 μg to over 10 μg (WHO 1987). The kidney, especially the renal tract, is the critical organ of intoxication after exposure to cadmium. Excretion is slow, and renal accumulation of cadmium may result in irreversible impairmentin the reabsorption capacity of renal tubules.

This sad discovery is important to share as, without the discovery, it would have undermined the relevance of the entire industry where amazing results are occurring. Charlatans exist everywhere and it’s important to keep an eye out for the scams. Also, discussed is some of the false rumors about the potential dangers of c60.
With their strange 60-atom structures, buckyballs could have potential as drug carriers, medical tracers, cancer fighters and other interesting applications in the human body, but studies examining their impact on the body have had mixed results. A group of French researchers set out to study its toxicity and other effects, and came up with a surprising find — not only are buckyballs safe, a buckyball diet doubled the lifespan of lab rats.
In this study, researchers at the University of Paris-Sud 11 put some buckyballs in olive oil and fed it to a group of rats. Control rat groups were given water and plain olive oil. The control rats’ median lifespan was 22 to 26 months, but the buckyball rats lived 42 months, the researchers say. The C60 was absorbed by the animals’ bloodstream and eliminated from their bodies within 10 hours, but it apparently worked as a potent antioxidant, the researchers found.
Plain olive oil extended the animals’ lifespans by 18 percent, which is itself notable, but not as much as the buckyball-doped oil, which the team claims increased their animals’ lifespan up to 90 percent.
“C60 should be the most efficient ever material for extending lifespan,” they write.
If you have found out about c60 oil, chances are you either found out about it through The Rat Study, or the person who told you about c60 mentioned The Rat Study to you. The infamous experiment on rats was conducted in 2012 by a team of scientists at the University of Paris. The most interesting and exciting aspect of the study was not at all what the experiment was originally set out to investigate, which is often the case in scientific discovery! The original experiment set out to discover the toxicity of c60 on rats. Not only did they discover that c60 had no toxic effects on the rats, but that it actually helped improve the health of the rats, and extended their life spans!
Here are the key points from the study:
Oral administration of c60 dissolved in olive oil at reiterated doses to rats, not only does not entail chronic toxicity, but it almost doubles their lifespan.
The effects of c60 in olive oil given to rats strongly suggests that the effect on lifespan is mainly due to the attenuation of age associated increases in oxidative stress.
Dissolved c60 is absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract and eliminated in a few tens of hours.
The importance of these results should open the way for many possible biomedical applications of c60 including cancer therapy, neurodegenerative disorders, and ageing.

This study was conducted on rats, not people!
Very special care was taken by the scientists to source authentic virgin olive oil, from a Chemlali Boughara cultivar in Tunisia
The c60 used was 99.98% purity obtained from SES research labs
Needless to say, the results of this study slowly made their way into the scientific community, and to the general public. Over the years, many people have taken it upon themselves to experiment with orally ingesting c60 oil themselves, and also giving it to their pets. There is now plenty of anecdotal evidence of good results with c60 experimentation.

It’s probably not a good idea to try making the c60 molecule at home!! At Amrita c60 we source for SES research labs. We take great care and every precaution making the oil for you at home. C60 in extra vigin olive oil is what’s recommended in this interview. We feel it is usually recommended because that was the oil used in the rat studies. But, we find olive oil to be less stable, it can go rancid more easily. It is also difficult to know if your olive oil source is trusted.
